Myself, my partner and our 2 children have been living in Taupo now for 13 years and have a lovely property in Oruanui Road . Originally from Auckland, we decided to move south and felt Taupo was ideal for bringing children up.
Neeve and Ashe both attend Wairakei Primary. We made the decision to enrol our children here as we felt it had a real family, rural feel, particularly being in the village and out of the main town. We love our country lifestyle and equally love being part of our amazing little school. Wairakei’s Pet Day is one such event that demonstrates the ‘buzz’ that our school shows. I was involved with the PTA for 4 years prior to being elected for our school’s board and became a parent representative early last year.
I presently have 3 roles as a NZ registered nurse. I am permanent part-time with Lake Taupo Hospice caring for palliative care patients in the community and have been in this role for over 2 years. On moving to Taupo 13 years ago, I commenced work at Taupo Emergency Department and remain in this role, caring for a wide variety of medical/surgical presentations. I am also a Resuscitation Instructor for the NZ Resuscitation Council and work under the Lakes DHB umbrella teaching Advanced Cardiac life support and basic CPR to all levels of DHB staff, between here and Rotorua Hospital.
I believe our school is currently one of the best in Taupo. It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of an enthusiastic board team including our principal and teachers, who all want to see our children achieving to the best of their abilities and meeting national standards under the school’s effective governance. For those that know me well enough, I like challenges and hope my energy will help our board achieve all the goals we have set out in our school’s charter.
I have always been passionate about family, children and their futures. I feel that educating our young and preparing them for adolescence and adulthood is fundamental in preparing them for their lives ahead. My values are that of supporting, guiding and caring for our children and being role models for them. I was thrilled to be elected onto our school’s Board of Trustees. I am very interested in learning further about the NZ education curriculum/system and how I can play a role in improving our achievement levels for all NZ children. Our school’s vision is exciting and one to be proud of.
