Sports

Sport has always been a big part of Wairakei Primary School culture due to our active children and very supportive parents. We have a range of yearly school events for all students to participate in and all classes try to make sport and physical education a fun and regular part of their programme. Our second term is focused on getting as many children as possible playing a winter sport for the school.  Cross country is the focus in the third term with athletics, volleyball and touch rugby happening in the last term. Interschool events happen each term with T-Ball in Term 1, Rippa Rugby and Volleyball in Term 2, Cross country in Term 4 and Swimming and athletics in Term 4. They are a fantastic way for our children to get to know students from other schools and to compete at the next level.

We also use the Kiwisport officers to introduce a range of other sports to the students such as golf, volleyball, badminton and cricket. As a school we like to encourage and celebrate sport as a way to keep healthy and have fun with others.
