We found out that what you eat affects your heart and how your body works. If we eat healthy we have lots of energy but if we eat unhealthily we will be tired and may seem grumpy.
Eating unhealthily can also cause heart attacks and you can get diabetes. An average child should eat 3 - 4 teaspoons of sugar per day (depending on how old you are) and an average adult should only have 6 - 9 teaspoons.
Sugar in our drinks
You should eat most of fruit and vegetables ( 5+ servings) and 5 - 6 servings a day of things like bread, cereals, grains and starchy vegetables.
We should eat 2 - 3 servings of protein and only some oils and nuts. We also learnt that most fizzy drinks have over 7 teaspoons of sugar and some over 10. I enjoyed learning what different foods do to our bodies and how it affects us.
