One way we explored this was in math by learning about directions, creating our own maps, giving people directions and being able to follow them to navigate our way through mazes. At the same time, it really tested the perseverance, patience and the ability of children to work together.
At first, we just used a number sequence to mark a pathway through our maps, then we focused on using directional language to describe our movements.
Later we used cones as obstacles in maze minefields where leaders had to guide a blindfolded partner through them to get to the other side.
