Room 13 have been focusing on the living world and the life processes of plants. We undertook to germinate a bean or pea seed by wrapping them in a damp tissue and putting them in a plastic bag. Then they attached the bag to the window so the seed would get the warmth of the sun. This process provided the students with a way of understanding that seeds need a distinctive ecosystem to survive.

During this process, the students develop an understanding of how to propagate seeds and recognised that all living things have certain requirements so that they can stay alive.
All students had to keep a record of their findings. They did this by measuring the length of the seed and drew a picture of what the seed looked like each week.
Carys - I learnt that seeds can’t grow without sunlight and water.
Toby - I learnt that seeds grow faster when they have germinated and have roots on them.
