Te Huka community 2016, Junior Yrs 1 and 2

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to the Te Huka learning community for 2016. This consists of four home rooms.

  • Claire Smith in Room 10,

  • Sara Sprague in Room 11,

  • Leanne Jackson in Room 7

  • Ange Painter in Room 4.

As a whole school, we will be continuing our journey into flexible and collaborative learning (also known as Modern Learning).

What does this mean for your child? The core curriculum areas will still be our main focus alongside life skills such as…

  • managing self

  • risk taking

  • creativity

  • relating to others

  • problem solving

  • resilience

  • participating and contributing.

The children will be working in a variety of learning spaces and with different teachers as they do in Discovery. We believe this approach engages our learners which in turn raises achievement.

This is a national and international movement to meet the needs of our 21st century learners. We are all very excited to be part of this change in the education system and look forward to working with you and your child next year.

We will be holding an information evening in Term One.

Kind regards

Claire Smith, Leanne Jackson, Sara Sprague, Ange Painter
