There is no i in team

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. – Helen Keller

Room 7 has been participating in a variety of activities that encourages teamwork. But what is teamwork and why is it important?

  • Teamwork helps us to get the job done.
  • Teamwork encourages us to work with other people.
  • Working with others means we can solve problems better.
  • We all get to share our ideas.
  • Teamwork helps us to practice our listening skills.

We need to practice our teamwork skills in order for us to be life-long learners and work efficiently at our jobs in the future.

Here are some different areas where we have been practising our teamwork skills:

One of our learning journey tasks was to create a miniature garden out of recycled materials with a partner.  We then had to share our work with the class and they could ask us questions. Ciana and Charlotte made a cool flower using magazines and a horse that stood up.

During our Health and Physical Education times, we have been focusing on group skills.  As a team, we had to decide on 10 important things we would need to take if we were stranded on a desert island.  When they had to share and justify our reasons for the class. Nathan, Vienna and Frankie did a good job at explaining their reasons.

Te Mihi went on a trip to the museum and the library. This was to practice our teamwork and research skills. It is a good skill to be able to work with a variety of different people in a group.

During our Physical Education times, we were having fun with balloons. Can you keep your balloon from falling onto the ground without using your hands to hold it up?  We also did balloon relays.

Mrs Isaacson loves drama so we were able to practice our teamwork skills here too. We had to create a freeze frame image that had something to do with rubbish. Can you work out what we are doing?
