Yoga 101 “A full Lotus position wasn’t as hard as I first thought!”

Learning Yoga has been a weekly event for Rooms 7, 8 & 9 children.

Students from these rooms have experienced and participated in yoga moves and stretches to strengthen their own muscles. Mrs Hendra is a qualified Yoga instructor and had offered to take weekly classes so that our students could have the opportunity to experience yoga activities. As part of our Ohaaki team inquiry this term about “What students were passionate about” students were able to try yoga and experience it.

Jahreon - I enjoyed it because it was fun doing all the poses. Some were hard especially touching my toes and keeping my legs straight.  It was great to have the opportunity to do it.

Max H - I like yoga because it is a lot of stretching and a healthy way to keep our bodies flexible.

Imogen - I liked how it calmed me down when I was feeling upset.

Charlotte - I really enjoyed it and it was a really good exercise for our body and it is good for us to increase our thinking ability.  Also a full Lotus position wasn’t as hard as I first thought because if you followed the instructions as to which leg to place first it was ok.
