I have been an enthusiastic teacher of children for more than ten years. I became fascinated with how children learn when I had my own children. I did not realise back then how learning about learning would change my life.
While my family was growing up I gained my Playcentre Federation Certificate. This knowledge and experience about Early Childhood has been hugely beneficial in my classroom. I was able to gain my B.Ed qualification because of ICT (Information Communications Technology) with the MMP (Mixed Media Programme) from Waikato University. I enjoyed the flexibility of studying online and being able to communicate with my study buddy who lived miles away. I just had to learn new skills to make it work. I am now excited to be part of the e-learning team at Wairakei Primary School. Who knows how many new skills this ‘Granny’ can learn while promoting learning with ICT.
Because I am a lifelong learner I am committed to supporting, challenging and celebrating the learning that is happening with my students and the wider school community.
