Wow, what an amazing experience I have had in my first term teaching at Wairakei Primary School.

I was lucky to have been appointed the permanent teaching position at this wonderful rural school. The community and parental support is magnificent which makes my job that more satisfying. I have been teaching for 10 years and have had extensive experience in the intermediate sector while I lived in Auckland. I have a passion for facilitating and learning in the Modern Learning Environment and using e-Learning tools to support my classroom programme. I encourage my students to take risks and I support mistakes as they are often the best learning moments.

I have an amazing husband and I’m a mother of 2 wonderful children, Shaun and Danielle. I enjoy everything about sports and play and participate in many sporting events and teams. I have competed in team events such as The Spirited Women's Adventure Race and Netball and individual events like the Hawkes Bay half marathon. These sports mentally and physically challenged me but what a feeling and a sense of achievement. This feeling is something I try and offer the students I work with; hard work and determination. My aspirations are to experience new things and challenge myself in a way that gives me a sense of pride. I believe being a role model to my own children as well as the students I teach demonstrates that I learn, challenge, and achieve just like they do every day.
