I started teaching at Wairakei Primary in 2011 and love teaching at this very special school. I am married to Steve who is a local fly fishing guide. We have two children – Myles 12 and Amelia 9. Myles is now at Intermediate after enjoying his primary school years here and Amelia is in Room 5. I have been really lucky to teach at the same school that my children go to and I both my children have become good teacher PA’s before and after school. I am really proud to be part of this school and appreciate all the amazing opportunities that are given to our children.
This year I am in Room 14 teaching Year 1 & 2 students and working collaboratively as part of the Te Huka team. I am also the Te Huka team leader and the mathematics curriculum leader. My leadership role is new to me this year and I am enjoying the challenge. I like working with children and teaching. I love the fun that can be had and the feeling of being a part of a child’s growth and development. My favourite subject is maths. I appreciate the patterns and connections that can be found in numbers and I enjoy problem-solving. I have trained as a Math Specialist Teacher (MST).
My family and I love living in the Taupo area. When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, walking and mountain biking - which is a particular family passion.
Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will.
