I have lived in Taupo for 13 years and have been part of the Wairakei School Primary community for the past five years. I have three children at Wairakei Primary School. I have a rural and farming background, well suited to the special rural character and values of the school; and a major contributing factor of why we chose Wairakei Primary School as the school for our children.
I have been a teacher for 18 years, with 10 years teaching at a Taupo secondary school. I currently work in the events industry, running my own business contracting to all the major events in Taupo including Ironman, Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, and Taupo Marathon. In my spare time, I play golf and squash, mountain bike, snowboard, run my children around to their various sports, and volunteer for Coastguard Lake Taupo.
I became a member of the Board of Trustees to stay involved in education. We are very lucky in New Zealand to have the ability to closely govern our schools. I am on the Board to help the school to continue to do its utmost to help all students feel safe, be safe, become life-long learners, and achieve their individual potential. Also, to help to ensure staff are supported in their role and that we do the best we can to assist them to work to their full potential.
