Parent Teacher Association

Who are we?

Chairperson -

Treasurer - Chris Te Whare

Secretary - Katie Sherman

Board Representative - Chris Berriman

Who can be a part of the PTA?

Parents, teachers, grandparents - anyone who wants to get involved in life at Wairakei Primary School.

What do they do?

The main purpose is to fundraise for the school to benefit student’s learning, support teachers in their classrooms and buy resources for the school.

Our PTA co-operates with and supports the Board of Trustees, Principal and teachers to ensure the best possible opportunities are available for all students.

From the new sunshades to the Year 6 camp, the fundraising objectives of the PTA alway have student benefits in mind. Our fundraising events help to bring our community together. This is most evident on our annual Pet Day, organised by the school PTA.

How can you help?

Even those that are time poor can help in small ways, while joining us for some fun.

All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend our PTA meetings and participate in our discussions.

You can become a member of the team or join as a “Friend of the PTA”.

Any involvement is valued, from planning to lending a hand at events, this all contributes to our school community.

Some of the fundraising initiatives we have planned for 2021include:

  • Movie night

  • Suncourt Indian & pizza lunches

  • Discos every term

  • A colour run

  • Cossie Club Christmas Party

Why should I get involved?

The PTA is a fun way to get to know other parents and caregivers, the teachers and the staff, especially if you are new to the school or area.

Our meetings are very informal. Every second meeting is held at an offsite location in the community - keep an eye out for where they are and join us for a drink.
