Lennox: Both Greece and New Zealand have prime ministers and are both under Queen Elizabeth II, did you know the Duke of Edinburgh is also the prince of Greece.
Ashe: Ancient Greek girls were not allowed to go to school and boys had to go away to boarding school.
Chelsea: Greek people paint their houses white to reflect the sun so its cooler inside.
Piper: The class sizes are the same in both countries, but we have playgrounds, gullies, larger classrooms with more colour and displays with better resources and devices.
Greek Houses
Greece we discovered is a country that is rich in history we were able to explore some of their histories. While looking into the ancient Greek people we looked into the War of Troy and decided to create our own models of how we would have made the Trojan horse.
Trojan Horses
Ashe: It would have been smelly and boring hiding in a horse wearing all the heavy armour with hundreds of Greek soldiers
Clare: The Greeks were a smart group of people, being able to trick the Troy’s into letting them in ending a 10-year war.
Casey: We were able to build our model using Sticks and glue, we had to plan it and look at different pictures to get ideas and then plan our horse.
Carney: It was fun making the horse because we were able to be a Greek soldier in a way.
We tried different kinds of foods found or enjoyed in Greece. We made feta, sugar cookies, greek salads, olive oil bread pieces and olives. Trying different foods outside our normal comfort food range was an exciting experience where we found out we liked things we had never liked before.
Lennox Feta cheese is yum
Ashe: I love feta and olives can I have some more, please.
Patrick: The garlic sticks are yummy
Declyn: I don’t like the cookies they taste yuck, too nutty
Greek food
We all researched and created a book looking at different questions we had about how Greece was different from NZ. These ranged from Gaming, trucks, trains, animals, pets, volcanoes, houses, dancing, music, emergency services and schools.
