Newsletter Week 6 Term 1 2015

Welcome to corn season. The corn is as lovely as last year and is going out the door very quickly. If you would like to buy some then please order it at the school office. Our PTA are doing great job of picking and selling this lovely corn.

Room 4 have set the scene for our next topic of learning ‘Communities’. The learners in Room 4 planned and prepared their own assembly held on Friday. It was a lovely display of how our learners see themselves and their starting point of their learning. Well done to them. They did a fantastic presentation and made assembly very enjoyable. It was also lovely to see our families there supporting their children.

I am starting to see an increase in the number of children not wearing their uniform tops. It has been great to see the increase of parents telling us via note or email why their child is out of uniform and I really appreciate that effort however some children have no real reason. Unless it is a special advertised day every child should have their school top on. It helps to keep the ‘Pride’ in our school in place.

Senior and Middle – Year 3 to 6 school athletics is happening this Wednesday starting at 11a.m. We run the day as a rotation of year groups. There will be a lunch break at our normal time of 1p.m. Parents are of course most welcome to attend for part or all of the day.

We are having our first goal setting meetings for 2015 on Thursday starting at 1p.m. We encourage all parents to make a time to meet with the teacher. You can do this on line at www.schoolinterviews.co.nz. Parent code is 3E577 or call Val in the school office. These meetings set up the learning for the year and where your child will be heading and what they need to work on. Every child is welcome to attend the meeting if you want them to. We always get a great turnout so remember to make your time to meet with the classroom teacher. We also ask parents to collect their child/children from school from 12.30p.m. onwards. This way teachers can have an uninterrupted time to meet with their families. We thank you for your support with this.

The school carpark will be closed on Friday March 13, 2015 as the hall is being used for the National Wood Turners Conference. Please park at the school shop. We will be putting a rope with flags on it to remind you not to park in the carpark.

There will be a lot of times to catch-up at school athletics and the parent teacher interviews.
