They have had to understand that people have social, cultural, and economic roles, rights and responsibilities. They have had to make choices about the information they have been reading and decide whether it was true or not.
Room 8 students now have a better understanding of how cultural practices reflect and express people’s customs, traditions, and how time and change affect people’s lives.
Push Pin Flag
Push Pin Buildings
The white colour of the flag symbolizes nobility and frankness, the blue for faithfulness, honesty, impeccability and chastity, and red for courage, generosity and love. The buildings that the students have been created have a unique architectural style and the students have recreated this style by using various geometric shapes with different coloured paper.
A Fabergé egg is a jewelled egg created by the House of Fabergé, in St. Petersburg, Imperial Russia. These eggs and other objects were destined to be an Easter gift for the Russian royal family. Room 8 students enjoyed making these eggs by painting a polystyrene egg and then they encrusted the egg with stick on jewels. These were beautifully decorated by using repeating patterns colours.

Push Pin Chess
For our Push Pin celebrations, Room 8 created a display to show what they had been learning about and the different things they had created. They had on show the headdresses they had made which is apart of the woman’s traditional costume, their name is written in Russian, and Matryoshka dolls which means wooden nesting dolls. When other students came into the classroom they wrote their name in Russian for them to take away with them. It was a fun and exciting day and the students got to show their knowledge about Russia.
The following week some senior students came into show Room 8 students how to play chess as this is a Russian past time.
