The 2022 Wairakei Primary School Cross Country was a huge success. In 2021, the school decided that the cross country course should return to the farm, where it was held in the past. This is to reflect the connection the school has with its surroundings and farming communities. This is part of the school’s identity, which makes Wairakei Primary School unique. A special thank you needs to go out to Mark Miers and Reece Williams, who let the school use the farm to run the event on. Without your generosity, the event wouldn’t have been able to go ahead.
It was amazing to see POWER on display throughout the day. People were showing Whanau by supporting others and many students were taking the Opportunity to challenge themselves by pushing harder in their running than they normally would. There’s one thing for sure, everyone should take Pride from their efforts.
Students in Years 4-6 who finished in the top 6 will go on to represent Wairakei Primary School at the Interschool Cross Country.
Wairakei Primary School would like to send out a big thank you to all the people that made the day such a successful one, from the school staff, to the race marshalls, place getters, and all the people that turned up to support the students that were running. A special thank you needs to go out to Bevan for all his work in organising and running the event. Everyone played such an integral part in making the day a memorable one that the children will look back on with fond memories.
