The Whare Taiki groups rotated around the teachers over two days as part of the whole school celebration for Matariki 2023. Mixed ability and ages were represented in all groups. Every teacher was involved so the teaching groups were smaller.
Teachers chose from a variety of activities. Some identified that their original task was either too short, too long or similar to the class next door and adapted it for the next rotation.
A variety of activities were brainstormed and then a reflection was conducted by the teachers, after the rotation, as planning for 2024. During the reflection the teachers talked about having a lot of colouring-in activities and not enough hands-on practical activities.
The highlight from the staff was the tuakana teina shown by the older students towards the younger one.
